Yesterday we visited with Danna Hughes of Vietnam Veterans Wives, a veterans organization in Republic. Being the widow of a Vietnam veteran, she shared the everyday struggles of veterans' wives.

Her family moved often and her husband's income was unpredictable. She says that when a veteran has PTSD, so does the entire family. She showed us some quilts made by the wives of Vietnam Veterans. These quilts were an outlet for the intense feelings the wives and widows had while dealing with their personal aftermath of the war: PTSD, suicide, illness -- sometimes the result of Agent Orange.
